(June 8) - A 4-month-old baby girl is doing fine after being ejected from a car during an accident in Tampa, Fla., Friday.
The baby's mother, Maira Hernandez, 23, had taken her out of her car seat and was breast-feeding Danaie when a garbage truck struck the passenger side of the car they were riding in, reported the St. Petersburg Times.
The infant flew through the open window and landed in the middle of a busy intersection. She didn't suffer any broken bones and was treated at a hospital, Marbelisa Herndandez, the mother's aunt, said.
"I believe it's a miracle," Hernandez told the paper. She said the baby's parents always buckle her into her car seat. "It was just bad timing."
Police said the crash happened after the baby's father, Vincente Rodriguez, 18, ran a red light.
The baby's mother did suffer several broken bones.
Rodriguez was charged with driving without a valid driver's license and negligent operation of a motor vehicle resulting in serious bodily injury, the Times said. Relatives fear he'll be deported to Mexico because he's an undocumented immigrant.
