VANCOUVER, British Columbia (July 25) - A cruise ship arrived at the Port of Vancouver from Alaska with a dead whale lodged in its bow.
The Princess Cruise Lines' Sapphire Princess was docked at the Canada Place terminal Saturday with the whale stuck to it. It wasn't immediately known when the collision occurred.

A Grim Discovery
A Sapphire Princess cruise ship arrived in the Port of Vancouver on Saturday morning with what is believed to be a dead fin whale -- a threatened species in Canada -- lodged to the bottom. A spokeswoman for Princess Cruise Lines said the whale was discovered as the ship prepared to dock.

Lisa Spaven of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans told the Vancouver Sun it appeared to be a fin whale, a threatened species in Canada.
She estimated the whale was about 70 feet long.
Spaven said an autopsy was needed to determine if the ship had struck the whale while it was alive or if the whale had been floating dead at sea.
Some tourists visiting one of the city's most impressive downtown destinations took pictures of the whale, while others stared in shock.
"It looks so small compared to the boat," Ed McKeowan, 69, of Chicago told the Vancouver Sun.
