(Oct. 9) - The family of a 16-year-old girl read on Facebook that she had been killed in a car crash before police had a chance to inform them of the tragedy, Australian media reported Friday.
Skye Lawson was a passenger in a Toyota Camry whose driver allegedly tried to pass another vehicle on a curving road in Leda, a suburb of Perth, around 8:20 p.m. Thursday, The West Australian newspaper reported.

"It appears oncoming traffic has caused the driver to swerve back to the correct side of the road and the vehicle has rolled," police Sgt. Graham Clifford told the Australian ABC TV network.
Lawson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed instantly when the Camry flipped over, police said.
Distraught family members rushed to the scene of the horrific crash after reading the details in a Facebook post, ABC reported. The posting went up before police had time to tell the family.
"We're disappointed, but there's nothing we can do about it," Clifford told ABC. "It's not illegal, but we're disappointed for the family."
Three female passengers and the 21-year-old man who was driving the car were taken to an area hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
