(Nov. 28) -- More than 50 dogs rescued from puppy mills and shelters had something special to bark about this holiday weekend, as they boarded a special private flight from Chicago to Long Island in an effort to find them new homes, according to local news reports.
The dogs would likely have been euthanized out West. But in New York the demand for dogs is higher, and they have a better chance of finding homes, reported the Chicago Tribune.

Pet Airways, which flies animals across the country, flew the dogs to their new destination Friday afternoon.
The day before, on Thanksgiving, the dogs had a special dinner of their own. The menu included canned turkey with potatoes and carrots, duck and sweet potato dinners and bagged pheasant, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
"They come from a traumatic experience. ... they don't know what's going on...but they've got 15 people hugging and kissing them," Pet Airways founder Dan Wiesel told WPIX.
