(Sept. 4) -- Score one for BO.
The Honolulu City Council has dropped its plans to pass a law making it a crime to ride public transportation with excessive body odor, The Honolulu Star Bulletin reported Friday.

Civil rights groups including the American Civil Liberties Union vigorously protested the measure, which would have punished public transit riders who transmitted "odors that unreasonably disturb others."
The proposed measure would have included $500 fines and possible jail time of up to six months for the most fragrant offenders.
Though disappointed that the city council decided to kill the bill, its author and co-sponsor, Nestor Garcia, seemed resigned by the outcome. "One person's smell is another person's perfume, I guess," he said.
