MANILA, Philippines (April 7) - Fishermen in the Philippines accidentally caught and later ate a megamouth shark, one of the rarest fishes in the world with only 40 others recorded to have been encountered, the World Wildlife Fund said Tuesday.

Fisherman in the Philippines accidentally catch a megamouth shark -- an extremely rare haul considering there have only been 40 other recorded encounters with the creatures. But despite the efforts of a conservation group, the creature is sent off to be butchered in a nearby town. Shark is a delicacy in the area.
