SEOUL, South Korea (June 8) -- North Korea convicted two American journalists and sentenced them Monday to 12 years of hard labor for crossing into its territory, intensifying the reclusive nation's confrontation with the United States.

Already under fire for its recent nuclear and missile tests, North Korea says two U.S. journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, have been convicted of a grave crime and of illegally crossing into the country. They were sentenced to 12 years in prison.
