(July 6) -- Where will Barack Obama spend his first vacation as president? Officially, the White House is keeping the plan under wraps, but the secret is out: The president, the first lady and his daughters will be heading to Martha's Vineyard.
The Boston Globe reported in April that the Obamas would be Vineyard bound come August, and other news organizations have been following up, trying to get firmer details on the first family's plans.

On Sunday, The New York Times reported that the Massachusetts island is abuzz with questions about where the Obamas will stay.
"The rumor mill is rampant because people want to get information and want to flesh out their plans," said Obama friend Charles J. Ogletree, a Harvard law professor and a summer Vineyard resident , in an interview with the newspaper. "I hope that people will respect their privacy and need for rest."
The Massachusetts beach vacation has become something of a presidential tradition. Bill and Hillary Clinton vacationed on the Vineyard, and John F. Kennedy's family has gathered at Hyannis Port for decades.
But as The Times pointed out, not all presidents were fans. George W. Bush said he preferred to relax at his Texas ranch because "most Americans don't sit in Martha's Vineyard, swilling white wine." Lyndon Johnson, who also vacationed at a Texas ranch, called the Vineyard the "female island" -- that's where his aides spent their time off, The Times said.
