(June 2) - A New York City family found an unwelcome guest in their apartment: a 5-foot-long snake.
Maria Dominguez, 37, called 911 Tuesday morning, after she spotted the reptile under the living room table in her fourth-floor apartment in the Bronx.

"I don’t know how it got there," she told the Daily News. "I woke up, and the snake was just there."
Dominguez said her three children were frightened. Her 9-year-old daughter, who has asthma, panicked and had trouble breathing.
"They were so scared," Dominguez said. "They went to school, but they don't want to come back in here."
Police were able to trap the creepy crawler with the aid of a broom and a plastic bag. The intruder was later identified as a nonpoisonous yellow rat snake, the New York Post said.
It was taken to the Center for Animal Care and Control.
Police said it's possible the snake was once someone's pet and either escaped or was abandoned.
