Pat Knight Calls Out Texas Tech Seniors
Most coaches talk in general when the subject is poor play. Texas Tech coach Pat Knight took the unusual route Monday of naming names, his seniors in particular. Still fuming from the poor play of forward Mike Singletary and guard Brad Reese -- both seniors -- and the role they played in Saturday's Big 12 opening loss...
Finding Wooden's Heir: Who Is Greatest Living Coach?
More than a man of an era, John Wooden was an era itself. His dominance on the court, temperament in situations that would've made Job himself shatter a clipboard in half and his ability to distill any bit a philosophy in a two-sentence homily, marked him alone as a separate period of college basketball. Building upon...
New FOX Sports Boss Eric Shanks Dreams Big Dreams
Eric Shanks has had barely a week behind the desk as the new president of FOX Sports, but that's apparently long enough for him to develop a wish list. "Wouldn't it be great if there was a time where when you thought of FOX, you thought of every professional final, the Triple Crown (and) the biggest of the big?" Shanks...
Problems Still Plague Cinderella Houston
HOUSTON -- Tom Penders was so impressed with the initial pitch to come to the University of Houston in 2004 that he got up and walked out on then-athletic director Dave Maggard. While Maggard was supposed to sell Penders on the merits of taking the job at a program with a storied history, Maggard instead spent most of...
Texas Tech's Defense Re-Buffs Colorado
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Texas Tech coach Pat Knight couldn't have asked for a better teaching point on the importance of good defense than the Red Raiders received Wednesday. Fresh off a frustrating 101-90 loss to Colorado during Saturday's regular-season finale, the ninth seeded Red Raiders put the clamps down on that same...

Bob Knight On NCAA One-And-Dones: 'I Think It's A Disgrace'
Just because basketball legend Bob Knight finally said "Kentucky" during the tail end of March Madness, that doesn't mean he won't go out of his way to bash the school, its fans and the NCAA's "one-and-done" rule that has allowed some of the teams stars to jump directly from their freshman seasons directly to the NBA.

From the players and coaches all the way through the roving media contingent, March Madness can be exhausting for everyone involved.

Alachua County not represented on water districts'...
Source: The Gainesville Sun - Gainesville FL
The St. Johns River and Suwannee River water management districts have formed a "stakeholder committee" as part of their newly minted partnership on North Florida water supply planning issues.
Divided between the two districts, Alachua County and Gainesville - the most populous area in the region besides Jacksonville - will have no representation on the 12-member committee.
It was not for a lack of trying.
Alachua County Commissioner Lee Pinkoson; Gainesville Regional Utilities' Tony Cunningham, a senior environmental engineer with the utility; and Bob Knight, the director of the Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute, each applied.
"To be as informed as possible, it would have been nice to have been selected," Pinkoson said.
