Kennesaw State Routs Georgia Tech as Atlantic Sun Tops ACC Again

By FanHouse StaffNov 15th 2010 – 10:18PM

The Atlantic Sun is making life awfully difficult for the ACC. And awfully embarrassing. Three days after Wake Forest lost by 10 at home to Stetson, the Yellow Jackets followed up with an even bigger loss to Kennesaw State. It was the Owls' first-ever win over a major-conference team. It wasn't close. Kennesaw State...

Sports Illustrated Cover Curses Couples Too

By Will BrinsonMay 15th 2008 – 3:30PM

Spartanburg County voters will have fewer candidates from which to choose this year.

The state's two largest parties removed 87 GOP and 95 Democratic candidates statewide for General Assembly and county offices from the ballot after the S.C. Supreme Court found that many candidates had improperly filed papers required to be eligible candidates.

"It's a debacle," said LaDonna Ryggs, Spartanburg County GOP chairwoman.

In local races, five challengers out of 12 were disqualified, leaving four GOP incumbents uncontested in the June 12 primary and leaving Sen. Glenn Reese, D-Inman, and those four GOP incumbents uncontested in the November general election.

Unless the now-disqualified candidates run as petition candidates, tens of thousands of voters throughout the county now have no choice in the primary and in the general election as a result of the court's ruling.

"On behalf of all South Carolina Republicans, I am sad about this week's candidate filing rulings, but am committed to following the S.C. Supreme Court's instructions," state GOP chairman Chad Connelly said in a statement.
