05/25/12 Lake Wales zooms to 42-16 win over Lake Region Source: The Ledger - Lakeland FL There were moments of nervousness for Lake Wales freshman Marcus Walker before Thursday's spring game against Lake Region, nerves even a trip to the bathroom couldn't quell.
But his first interception, one he returned 65 yards for a touchdown, helped him settle in.
His second interception, on the first play of the ensuing drive, turned some heads.
Walker's third pick, a one handed snag he had to leap for just in front of the end zone, bolstered his stock, at least on his team.
"I think we found ourself a safety," Lake Wales coach Rod Shafer said with a grin after the Highlanders' 42-16 win.
Shafer's tune was a bit different Wednesday night, saying that the team's biggest hole was in the secondary.
Walker wasn't so sure he would do well, either.
"It was my first game with the varsity, so I was nervous," the 6-foot-1, 175 lb.
