- 05/22/12 Cameron selected as Draft rep for Mariners Source: MLB - Seattle Mariners Former All-Star center fielder Mike Cameron has been chosen to represent the Mariners at the First-Year Player Draft, which will be held June 4-6 in Secaucus, N.J. Cameron ended a 17-year Major League career after last season, then officially retired as a Mariner by signing a one-day "employment agreement" with Seattle in April after throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at Safeco Field's Opening Day. Cameron, 39, will be joined by Mariners area scout Brian Nichols at this year's Draft, in which Seattle has the third selection in the first round.
