Mendocino Wine Group is seeking dismissal of a lawsuit filed by former partner Paul Dolan, who was ousted from the company, saying Dolan was fired for cause.
Dolan was terminated from the Ukiah company for breach of duty of confidentiality and conflict of interest with the wine company's competitors, said Thomas Thornhill, CEO of Mendocino Wine Group, in a statement.
"We do not believe the case has merit and are seeking dismissal of the lawsuit," Thornhill said.
The original lawsuit, filed by Dolan in Mendocino County Superior Court in March, claimed that Dolan was not paid the full amount for his stake in the business when he was terminated as president.
But Dolan was fired for cause, so his share of the business was subjected to a discount, Thornhill said.
Dolan and his attorney did not immediately return calls seeking comment Tuesday.
Dolan co-founded the company with Tim and Tom Thornhill in 2004 to buy Parducci Wine Cellars.
