School calendars still evolving in wake of legislation

TUSCALOOSA | The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education was set to approve a new 2012-2013 school year calendar Thursday afternoon, but the plans had to be abandoned due to new information the system received from State Superintendent of Education Tommy Bice Thursday morning.
Last week, the Alabama Legislature passed the Flexible Calendar Act of 2012 in an effort to increase tax revenue from state tourism.
