Gutsy Glaus' Double Play Decision Sparks Braves' Miraculous Game 2 Win

By Jeff FletcherOct 9th 2010 – 3:39AM

SAN FRANCISCO -- When the ball came bouncing toward Troy Glaus, as the runner who could provide a season-crushing blow to the Braves was sprinting home, Glaus didn't think the right play was to go to second base. He knew it. That's the point. Glaus is not a good third baseman. Never has been. Not even in his prime. He...

Braves Will Add Freddie Freeman to the Roster on Wednesday

By Josh AlperAug 31st 2010 – 4:40PM

Freddie Freeman might not mean much to the present of the Atlanta Braves. He does mean a lot to the future of the team, though, and that's why we're excited to see him in a Braves uniform come Wednesday. Freeman, 20, will be one of the players joining the Braves as the rosters expand to 40 men for the final month of the...

Damage Control: Stephen Strasburg Shutdown?

By Paul BourdettAug 23rd 2010 – 9:00AM

The "wince" in Washington (video here) is the injury news du jour. Will Stephen Strasburg be shut down for the rest of the season? Is he headed for Tommy John surgery? Will he miss all of next season? There have been so many conflicting reports over the last 24-48 hours, I'm not sure anyone has the answers. Here's what...

Roto Rush: Derrek Lee Traded to Braves

By Knox BardeenAug 19th 2010 – 11:00AM

Derrek Lee is on his way to the Atlanta Braves after the Chicago Cubs dealt the first baseman for three minor leaguers on Wednesday. Lee started slowly in Chicago, batting just .234 with a .708 OPS through the month of June, but has stepped up his hitting of late. Since the beginning of July, Lee is hitting .288. If you...

Roto Rush: Kevin Slowey No-Hits A's, Pulled After Seven Innings

By R.J. WhiteAug 16th 2010 – 8:00AM

When is a no-hitter not a no-hitter? Kevin Slowey was on top of his game on Sunday, no-hitting the Oakland A's for seven innings. But with 106 pitches on the odometer of an arm that caused him to miss his last start with elbow tendinitis, Slowey was wisely removed from the game by Ron Gardenhire, earning the manager boos...

A few weeks ago, four-time Major League Baseball All-Star Troy Glaus and a friend — local real estate appraiser Steve Albright — took a trip to Arizona to play some golf.

While there, Glaus, as big a hitter on the links as he was in drilling 304 career home runs from 1998-2010, asked for and received tips to help his short game from Albright, the current leader in the Marion County Golfer of the Year race.

"Steve is the very best I have ever seen at chipping the ball," said Glaus, an Ocala resident who carries a 1-handicap.

Background on Troy Glaus

Troy Edward Glaus (; born August 3, 1976 in Tarzana, California) is a former Major League Baseball first baseman and third baseman.
