The Dugout: End of the Season Spectacular
My sincerest possible congratulations to the San Francisco Giants for becoming the 2010 World Series champions of Baseball and Fun. They're a great team full of struggling hitters and lovable nobodies, which makes them exactly the type of team that should be winning the World Series. Everybody who complains about the...
San Francisco Parties Its Heart Out
SAN FRANCISCO -- "You go, girl!" And with that simple utterance, more than five decades of heartache and frustration yielded to jubilation and exhilaration, because there on the large TV screens was Tim Lincecum -- "Timmy," to one and all -- being hoisted atop the shoulders of his teammates, his long, glorious hair...
San Francisco Giants Win First Series Since 1954
ARLINGTON, Texas (Nov. 2) -- The great thing about baseball is that none of us really knows a damn thing about it. There was no way that any thoughtful analysis in spring training or over the summer or in September or even last week could come up with the scene that unfolded here on a cool November night. When the final...
Giants Move to Brink of World Series Title
ARLINGTON, Texas (Oct. 31) -- The Giants moved within one victory of the franchise's first championship in 56 years with a 4-0 victory over the Rangers in Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday night, playing the type of game that has defined the team in this improbable run. Rookie Madison Bumgarner pitched eight innings...
The Dugout: I Don't Like Brian Wilson
I'm serious, I don't. No, I don't care what you have to say. I do not ever want to see this guy or hear him talk ever again. I want to go back to my comfortable world where the San Francisco Giants are just Willie Mays and Barry Bonds and I don't have to learn their names or know anything about them. I also don't like...

Bama softball opens College World Series with a win
Source: Tuscaloosa News - Tuscaloosa AL
OKLAHOMA CITY | Sometimes you have to be selective to be aggressive.
That's the approach the University of Alabama softball team took Thursday in its opener at the Women's College World Series.
The second-seeded Crimson Tide got its first seven batters on base safely to spark a four-run first inning that set the tone for a 5-3 victory over the Tennessee Lady Vols.
Alabama advanced to tonight's winner's bracket game against Arizona State.
To get past its Southeastern Conference rival Alabama took command from the start.
"Our batters did a great job, took advantage of some walks," Alabama coach Patrick Murphy said.

Polk State's Season Ended at With a Loss in College...
Source: The Ledger - Lakeland FL
But sometimes life isn't on the same clock.
Polk State College baseball coach Al Corbeil learned that lesson this week at the 55th Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
With his team facing elimination at the World Series, Corbeil got the call of a lifetime late Monday evening and rushed back to Lakeland to witness the birth of his first child, Azarias Grand, with about an hour and a half to spare on Tuesday afternoon.
Corbeil missed his team's game on Tuesday, but he saw his wife, Whitney, knock one out of the park.
"She wouldn't let the doctor check her so the process wouldn't get rushed," Corbeil said.
There wasn't much time to spare.
