Florida freshman golfer J.D. Tomlinson, a Gainesville native out of Oak Hall, put on an impressive show Monday in the first phase of his attempt to qualify into the 2012 U.S. Open.
Tomlinson shot a 65 to win his local qualifier by a full four strokes against a field packed with pro golfers at Marsh Creek Country Club in St. Augustine.
