Falcons Can't Afford to Try to Cut Corners When it Comes to Special Teams
The most underpaid player on the Atlanta Falcons this season was cornerback Brent Grimes ($392,000). The next most underpaid player was probably middle linebacker Curtis Lofton (about $450,000). And then comes kicker Matt Bryant ($755,000). You know about Grimes, the undrafted rookie free agent out of Shippensburg. He had...
Week 17 IDP Rankings: Linebackers
When the Patriots drafted Mayo tenth overall in the 2008 NFL Draft, this is the Jerod Mayo they envisioned -- a defensive leader who'd provide a strong tackling presence to complement NT Vince Wilfork in the middle of the 3-4 . Typically, the biggest weakness of the 3-4 is its vulnerability to gouging runs up the middle,...
Chris Ivory Still Limited in Saints' Practice; Falcons' Defense Plans to Plug Hole
The New Orleans running back Chris Ivory was "limited" again in practice on Friday, but who really knows the condition of his hamstring and just how effective he will be Monday night against the Falcons. "I'm just going to take it day by day," Ivory told the New Orleans Times-Picayune after Friday's practice. Ivory told...
Week 16 IDP Rankings: Linebackers
Once again, Patriots RILB Jerod Mayo racked up a huge tackle total. He posted a game-high 16 tackles (10 solos) in the exciting victory over the Packers, and still leads the NFL with 164 tackles through just 14 games. While Mayo has just one sack, three PD and two fumble recoveries on the season, he's a constant, reliable...
Week 14 IDP Rankings: Linebackers
Just 12 games into the 2010 season, Stephen Tulloch has already eclipsed his 2009 tackle total. While there are a few reasons for this, but the simplest explanation is that the Titans' offense stinks, and Tulloch – who's now a part of the nickel package as well – is on the field for more plays. But Tulloch is...

Lofton says a gut feeling brought him to Saints
Source: Daily Comet - Thibodaux LA
Curtis Lofton admits that as a former Atlanta Falcon, he used to hate the rival Saints.
Yet, instead of delighting in the bounty scandal that cast uncertainty upon Saints' 2012 season, Lofton's reaction was to take New Orleans seriously as a free-agent destination.
"When I actually was thinking about coming here, I took everything into consideration and I played the worst-case scenarios, and for me it didn't matter," Lofton said Thursday after the Saints' wrapped up a second set of offseason practices.

Sizing up Lofton over Vilma
Source: Daily Comet - Thibodaux LA
It was no real surprise last week that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma for one year and defensive end Will Smith for four games for their involvement in the bounty scandal.
Personally, I understand why the NFL Players Associationis fighting the commissioner on the suspensions.
