Ehud Barak, Israel Defense Minister, Says Country Should Consider 'Unilateral Action' If Peace Negotiations Stall
Defense Minister Ehud Barak abruptly proposed on Wednesday that Israel consider "unilateral action" if long-stalled peace talks with the Palestinians don't resume and produce a deal â suggesting Israel may be thinking of withdrawing from part of the West Bank, as it did from the Gaza Strip seven years ago.

Ehud Barak (; born Ehud Brog on 12 February 1942) is an Israeli politician who served as Prime Minister from 1999 to 2001. He was leader of the Labor Party until January 2011 and holds the posts of Minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister in Binyamin Netanyahu's government.
