The Dugout: A Whole Thing of Steroids
Eventually I'm going to be able to do offseason Dugouts about things other than the teams in the World Series and the Yankees, but for right now we have a silent holocaust to deal with: San Francisco Giants players using drugs. Jose Guillen arranged to have HGH shipped in from the Dominican Republic, Tim Lincecum smokes...
Jose Guillen Allegedly Arranged for Shipment of HGH
Jose Guillen was left off the San Francisco Giants playoff roster in September after the team was reportedly alerted by Major League Baseball to a federal investigation involving the outfielder and shipments of human growth hormone sent to his wife. Now the details of the investigation are becoming more clear. Guillen...
Bruce Bochy: Cody Ross Starting Over Jose Guillen 'a Baseball Decision'
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that Cody Ross was going to be the Giants postseason starting right fielder over Jose Guillen because of Guillen's injury and ineffectiveness, despite reports that Guillen was left off the roster because he was the subject of an investigation for receiving HGH. The...
Jose Guillen, Barry Zito Left Off Giants' NLDS Roster
As expected, Barry Zito was left off the Giants postseson roster, but it was something of a surprise that the Giants also left Jose Guillen, who had been their everyday right fielder, off the roster, too. Guillen has been bothered by a sore neck, manager Bruce Bochy told FanHouse on Thursday morning. He also had dealt...
Giants' Band of Cast-Offs Comes Up Big
Brian Sabean spent the past few years carefully combing through the baseball marketplace, consulting with his cadre of advisors to pick just the right players to complement the Giants' outstanding pitching staff. And when that didn't work, he went to a yard sale. The Giants are preparing for their first postseason...

Revised state budget could delay new Santa Rosa...
Source: The Press Democrat - Santa Rosa CA
Gov. Jerry Brown's revised budget proposal released Monday likely would delay construction on a new $160 million Sonoma County courthouse by one year, officials said.
"If this sticks, I don't think we are high enough in the mix to (start) this year," said José Octavio Guillén, court executive officer of Sonoma County Superior Court.
Brown's proposed budget, which needs legislative approval, would take effect July 1.
Guillen said the state's courthouse construction fund established in 2008 by SB 1407 allocates about $310 million a year to pay the debt on voter approved bonds.

Turkey into electrical wires knocks out power to...
Source: Petaluma 360 - Petaluma CA
A wild turkey that flew into power lines knocked out Sonoma County's high-tech emergency 911 dispatch system Sunday night and crippled operations at the courthouse and county jail Monday.
The power blackout was compounded when the county's massive and expensive emergency backup power system failed.
On Monday, with computers out, traffic court was greatly curtailed, court calendars and proceedings had to be recorded by hand and jail inmates missed morning court appearances.
"And all because of a turkey," said Jose Guillen, court executive officer.
